International Engagement
Deputy Director for International Engagement – North America
Texas independence isn't just a Texas story, and this role makes sure the rest of North America hears it right.
The Deputy Director for International Engagement, North America is TNM's point of contact for every relationship across the continent outside Texas borders. You build the connections with pro-independence groups, political organizations, and advocacy networks in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico that make the Texas independence argument land beyond state lines. When a conference happens, a media opening appears, or a foreign group wants to learn about the TNM, you're the one who shows up and speaks clearly. This role sits under the Director of International Engagement and directly advances the movement's credibility on the international stage.
What you'd own
- Build and maintain working relationships with pro-independence movements, advocacy groups, and political organizations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
- Serve as TNM's first contact for North American inquiries from outside Texas.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for cross-border events, media coverage, and collaborative public relations work.
- Monitor political and social developments across North America that could affect the movement and brief leadership on what matters.
- Represent TNM at international conferences, forums, and external events in the North American region.
- Develop outreach strategies for the region in coordination with the Director of International Engagement.
What we're looking for
- Background in international relations, political advocacy, or diplomacy, with real work to show for it.
- Working knowledge of the political landscape in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
- Ability to represent TNM clearly and professionally in any room, from a conference table to a media call.
- Strong relationship-building instincts and follow-through.
- Genuine belief in Texas independence, not just interest in the cause.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or French is a plus.
- Experience with North American media or public relations is a plus.
- Prior connection to nationalist, sovereignty, or independence movements is a plus.
The commitment
- Approximately 10 to 15 hours per week under normal operating conditions.
- Flexibility required during conferences, events, or fast-moving political windows.
- Minimum one-year commitment expected.
