Director of International Engagement

VolunteerTexas / Remote

TNM is not just a Texas story, and this role makes sure the world knows it.

The Director of International Engagement builds TNM's relationships with self-determination movements around the world. You find the leaders of those movements, open the conversations, and make sure Texas independence is understood and supported beyond our borders. You'll manage a team of regional deputy directors and represent TNM in international forums. This is the role that puts Texas on the map for every nation that's ever asked whether it can govern itself.

What you'd own

  • Research global self-determination movements and track geopolitical developments that bear on Texas independence, and bring what matters to TNM leadership.
  • Open and maintain direct communication with leaders of independence and self-determination movements in other countries.
  • Identify partnership opportunities with aligned organizations, then follow through on joint initiatives that move both missions forward.
  • Plan and run international meetings, conferences, or virtual summits where TNM and allied movements can share lessons and build trust.
  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of regional Deputy Directors, each covering a specific part of the world.
  • Set clear goals and benchmarks for the international engagement team and hold them to it.
  • Report to TNM leadership and membership on outcomes: what relationships we've built, what we've learned, and where we're going.
  • Speak for TNM at international forums and with foreign media, making the case for Texas self-determination plainly and confidently.

What we're looking for

  • Solid working knowledge of international relations, geopolitics, and at least some of the active self-determination movements globally.
  • Track record in diplomacy, international communications, or cross-border organizing, whether in a professional or volunteer context.
  • Ability to lead and develop a small team across time zones and without a budget to throw at problems.
  • Genuine belief in Texas independence. This is not a resume line; you have to mean it.
  • Fluency in a second language is a real plus, not a checkbox.
  • Comfortable representing an organization publicly, including to press and international officials.

The commitment

  • This is a leadership volunteer position. Expect 10 to 15 hours per week, more during summits or high-activity periods.
  • You'll need availability across time zones for calls and coordination with international contacts.
  • Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings or events.
